The Development
The Watergardens; this exclusive gated development of 37 luxury apartments set within 9 acres of award wining landscaped grounds, was built by Octagon Developments in 1989.
There are three separate blocks, known as the East Lawns, West Lawns and the Japanese architectural design with intricate wood details, all surrounded by mature lawns, trees and bushes. Each block offers an entry phone and post box at the entrance with two underground parking spaces with remote gates for each apartment and secure lock up store rooms, with some having more than one.
All apartments to the first and second floors benefit from terraces and the ground floor apartments have covered loggias which lead the communal grounds. Other common features are double glazed windows, independent central heating and hot water. The second floor apartments also have the benefit for their own independent lofts for storage only (not to be converted into accommodation).
There is also day porterage five days a week who are there to assist the residents with the efficient management of the estate.
These spacious apartments varying from 152 square meters to 165 square meters, have proven to be ideal to downsizers seeking a secure lock up and go lifestyle.
The Gardens
The whole nine acres or so were originally part of the grounds of Warren House, now a privately owned boutique hotel. The whole site encompassed Coombe Wood Nursery and what is now Warren Park and Paget Place. ICI, who acquired Warren House as management training grounds in 1954, restored Warren House back to its glory. When they sold the northern grounds and the nine acres to Octagon in 1987, there was a condition that no building would obstruct the view south to the pond from Warren House, hence the iron railings. Octagon employed Pantiles Nurseries to restore the gardens and pump houses and built extra Japanese style bridges over the streams and waterfalls. The Cranes that were gifted to Edward VII were restored and sited back on the lower pond where the new pagoda is found.
